QS Rankings for Asian Universities

QS released rankings for Asian universities 2021 and 3 IITs made into top 50 IIT Bombay was at the top followed by IIT Delhi and IIT Chennai. They compared close to 650 institutes over 18 locations in Asia. The selection was made on the basis of 11 characteristics mainly including graduate employability, research quality, academic excellence, internet presence and internationalization on campus. Top 200 in QS Rankings for Asian Universities

IIT Bombay grabbed the spot for 37th rank followed by IIT Delhi on 47th rank and IIT Madras at 50th rank.  Many other Indian institutions were also listed in the top 100 institutions for learning.  The University of Delhi was ranked 71st, IIT Kanpur was ranked 72 and Jawaharlal Nehru University was ranked 81 in the list of top 100 institutions for learning.

Some other Indian institutions were ranked as follows- IIT Roorkee (103), IIT Guwahati (117), University of Hyderabad (142), Jadavpur University (147), University of Calcutta (154) and The Institute of Chemical and Technology (155).

The National University of Singapore topped the charts this year as well followed by Tsinghua University of China which bagged the second place. Nanyang Technological University, The University of Hong Kong and Zhejiang University bagged the third, fourth and fifth spots respectively.

The rankings were made on the basis of the institution’s performance before the onset of Covid-19 pandemic. 

This year’s list includes 634 institutions as compared to the list of last year which featured 550 institutions. 93 new institutions have made it to the list this year which are mostly from Japan, India, South Korea and Pakistan. More than 65% of the universities are from China (124), India (106), Japan (98) and South Korea (85).
