Scuola Normale Superiore PhD Scholarships

The Scuola Normale Superiore University offers fully-funded PhD scholarships in Italy to both international and Italian PhD candidates enrolled in the university. For the 2020 academic year, these scholarships are available in the fields of Astrochemistry, Data Science, Philosophy, Italian studies and Modern Philology, Computational methods and Mathematical Models for Sciences and Finance, Methods and Models for Molecular Sciences, Neurosciences, Classics, History of Art, Nanosciences, Transnational Governance and so on. All students admitted to the PhD program under this scholarship scheme are entitled to receive funding covering their tuition fees along with grants for board and accommodation. Additionally, they would be entitled to receive funding for their research studies, even abroad. To be eligible for this Scholarship, the candidate should have obtained their Master’s degree in the relevant field within 31st October 2020 and should have been born after October 31, 1988.

Bologna University Study Grants for International Students

Under the Unibo Action 1&2 scholarship scheme of the University of Bologna, full tuition fee waivers and study grants are offered to international students who want to register for first cycle (bachelor’s), second cycle (master’s) or single cycle degree programs at the university. These scholarships in Italy entitle students to receive full tuition fee waivers (Unibo Action 1), along with study grants of a gross amount of € 11,000 (Unibo Action 2) for one academic year. To be eligible for these grants, the candidate must possess the required educational qualifications for applying to their chosen course from an institution outside of Italy. They are also required to take the SAT or GRE test, the marks obtained in which will determine their selection. The age limit for application is 30 years.

Bocconi Merit and International Awards

This is one of the sought-after scholarships in Italy which can be availed by students from any country around the world taking admission in any undergraduate or graduate programme at the Bocconi University. Under the Bocconi International award, a selected candidate will be granted a 50% tuition fee waiver (worth around 6000 euro per year). Candidates selected for the Bocconi Merit award will receive a full tuition fee waiver (worth 12000- 14000 euros per year) along with accommodation facilities for selected students. The scholarships will be renewed automatically subject to favourable academic progress by the candidate.

Politecnico di Milano Merit-Based Scholarships for International Students

Amongst the top scholarships in Italy for masters programs, the Politecnico di Milano offers a number of merit-based scholarships to the most deserving international students admitted in the first or 2nd semester of a Master of Science degree. There are three types of scholarships offered under this scheme – Platinum Scholarships, Gold Scholarships and Silver scholarships. Students receiving any of these scholarships are exempted from paying any tuition fees, they will only have to pay a non-refundable administrative fee of around 200 euros. Additionally, candidates selected for the Gold and Platinum scholarships will get an extra annual allowance of 5000 and 10000 euros respectively. The selection of candidates is strictly made on the basis of their educational qualifications.

Italian Government Scholarship Program for Foreign Students

These scholarships are offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) to non-resident foreign citizens (students) in Italy and to Italian Citizens studying abroad, with a view of fostering international cultural, scientific and technological cooperation, promoting Italian language and culture and supporting Italy’s economic system in the world. Under this scheme, international students studying in Italian higher educational institutes will receive exemption (full or partial depending on the institution) from tution or enrollment fees along with a monthly allowance of € 900 and health and medical insurance for a duration of 3, 6 or 9 months, depending on the course. The grants are available for students pursuing master’s degrees (laurea magistrale 2° ciclo), courses of higher education in arts, music, and dance (afam), PhD programmes, research under academic supervision (progetti in co-tutela) and italian language and culture courses in Italy. Students applying for these scholarships in Italy will have to fulfil certain eligibility criteria as regards to age, language proficiency and academic qualifications.

Padua International Excellence Scholarship Programme

The Padua International Excellence Scholarship Programme is offered by the University of Padua provides up to 43 scholarships to exceptionally promising potential students wanting to pursue a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English in the city of Padua, Italy. This scholarship in Italy is rather specific with its rules and one of the best. Only students with the best academic achievement background will earn a grant. Good scholars are required to serve an official diplomatic position and to promote the University at a number of different occasions. The rewards of this scholarship provide an annual fee-waiver + 8,000 Euros scholarship (a net amount). The only sum to be incurred by the eligible candidates annually shall be the registration fee equivalent to the local fee which would be paid by the candidate.

EDISU Piemonte Scholarships

EDISU Piemonte Scholarships include the non-EU international students, who are studying in full-time Bachelor’s degrees, Master’s degrees, Single Cycle Master’s degrees or PhD degrees at one of the Universities of Piedmont, where universities including the Politecnico of Turin, the University of Torino and the University of Eastern Piedmont if they fulfil the merits and cost considerations of the university. Partial-time candidates can access if they are participating in a bachelor’s degree. The volume of the scholarship varies based on a variety of factors. Housing provision could also be offered to non-resident applicants.

Università Cattolica International Scholarships

The Università Cattolica International Scholarship is sponsored by the Università Cattolica which is the biggest private college in Europe with more than 41,000 graduates in 12 colleges. The UCSC International Scholarship is an annual fee waiver sponsored by the Università of Cattolica to help new students obtain admission to the university courses. The reduction occupies approximately 30 per cent of the overall bill. Candidates are told of their scholarship via their mail once they receive a message for acceptance. The application fee for undergraduates earning the UCSC International Scholarship is EUR 5750.

Politecnico di Torino International Scholarships

Politecnico di Torino International Scholarships are funded by the Politecnico di Torino, which provides scholarships to undergraduates to enrol in degree programs in engineering and design. The Polytechnic University of Turin, which is also identified as the Politecnico di Torino in Italian, is a partly public engineering research university in Turin, Italy. Applicants may qualify for a prestigious international scholarship from Politecnico via their official site.
