Swinburne University of Technology 2022 PhD Scholarship - Assistive Technology for Aged Care and Disabilities

The new exciting PhD position has become available where we are looking for a candidate to take part in research collaboration with the industry partner to conduct cutting edge research on “Rapidly-Deployable Soft Robotic Assistive Devices for Aged Care and Disabilities”. The aim of the project is to innovate commercially viable assistive device that can be rapidly deployed to users of varying sensual and physical impairments. The proposed research has a good mix of fundamental studies in terms of materials and manufacturing processes as well as algorithmic and application development. It is expected that the project will generate new knowledge, leading to publishable results. The research will contribute to enhancing Australia’s manufacturers’ competitiveness in innovating assistive technologies, design and manufacture of assistive devices for individualized clinic or home-based care for aged and impaired population. Specifically, the research project will spearhead the sponsor’s effort to grow its new business in assistive healthcare devices.
