Overview

Swedish universities typically fall into two categories, namely the traditional ‘university’ and a ‘university college’. Distinction being that, while the former has the right to confer PhD degrees, the latter normally doesn’t. However, in recent times, the university colleges have begun to award PhD degrees as well. As for the structure, the top universities in Sweden generally follow the international system of education, offering bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs. The length of each program is:

  • Bachelor’s: Three Years
  • Master’s: One to Two Years [Read MBA in Sweden]
  • PhD: Several Years depending on the course

Note: These degrees may vary in duration depending on the nature of the course, performance of student and other factors. Aspirants are advised to research courses thoroughly before applying for them.
