What is Statistical Engineering?

Statistical Engineering deals with the development of software applications and programming to be used for the process of statistical modelling and graphic analysis. The work of a Statistical Engineer is to combine the theories and concepts from both Statistics and Engineering, in order to come up with a solution to an issue in their workplace. They need to analyze data with the help of sophisticated computer software and draft a final report on the basis of their findings, in order to come up with effective solutions to increase the efficiency of a business or organisation.

Core Statistical Engineering Processes

  1. Acquiring information through surveys and experiments.
  2. Exploration and visualization of data
  3. Model construction
  4. Drawing conclusions from models (learning)
  5. Application of solutions and sustainability.

Benefits of Statistical Engineering

  1. Decreased manufacturing’s unwanted variability.
  2. Reduced costs.
  3. Effective use of data.
  4. Broader comprehension and use of statistical concepts and techniques.
  5. Decreased unwanted variability.
