The GKT King’s College London Medicine has sites in three different institutions, including University Hospital Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, which also serve as teaching hospitals for the school. On August 1, 1998, the institution was renamed after a merger with the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals.

The medical school has an annual intake of around 400 students for the conventional MBBS program, 50 students for the Extended Medical Degree Program (EMDP), 23 students for the Graduate/Professional Entry Programme (GPEP), and two students for the GPEP program for Maxillofacial (MaxFax) Entry. The number of people who apply varies from year to year. It receives more medical school applications than any other UK medical school, and applicants must take the University Clinical Aptitude Test as of 2016.

The medical school is ranked 8th in the world by Times Higher Education (THE) in its World University Rankings 2015–2016 by subject (Clinical, Pre-clinical, and Health Results), and 17th in the world by QS World University Rankings (Medicine) 2021. Graduate Entry Medicine Program MBBS at GKT King’s College London

The King’s College London Medicine offers a graduate entry programme MBBS. The Graduate Entry Medicine allows honours-degree biomedical/life science graduates and healthcare workers with equal academic skills to pursue a fast-track degree in medicine through the Graduate Entry Medicine Program. The program’s design allows you to skip the first year of a traditional medical degree and graduate in four instead of five or six years.

Medicine Maxfax Entry Program MBBS at GKT King’s College London

Another MBBS offered at the King’s College London Medicine is the Maxfax Medical School Admissions Program. The MBBS is a four-year medical degree created for qualified dentists who are registered with the UK General Dental Council and want to work in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Eligibility 

Applicants must be qualified dentists who desire to pursue a career in oral and maxillofacial surgery and are registered with the UK General Dental Council.

• This curriculum does not necessitate the use of the UCAT.
• Applicants are chosen for interviews based on their statements, previous experience, and qualifications.
• A regular panel of dental and/or medical staff conducts the interviews. Interviews normally take place between February and April of the year in which you apply, and you should hear about whether or not you have been selected for an interview within this period.
• After an interview, they are usually able to award two spots to appropriately qualified applicants each year.

Extended Medical Degree Program MBBS at GKT King’s College London

The Extended Medical Degree Programme (EMDP) offered at the King’s College London Medicine is tailored to students pursuing A-levels or Access to Medicine at a non-selective state school or who are Realising Opportunities participants across England. The program gives a more advanced introduction to medical studies than the traditional MBBS program, as well as more academic and pastoral assistance.

• Required subjects (Biology and Chemistry)
• International Baccalaureate (35 points including 665 at Higher Level)
• Grade 6 in one of the two subjects (Higher Level Biology or Higher Level Chemistry) and a grade 5 in the other.
• If not studied/studying at Higher Level, GCSE/IGCSE English Language and Mathematics requirements can be satisfied by IB Standard Level/Middle Years grade 5.
• All applicants must take the UCAT.
• Both English Language and Mathematics GCSE grades 6/B are required.

According to the Sunday Times, King’s College London Medicine is the sixth-most difficult UK university to get into in 2005. According to a 2015 freedom of information request, only 39 offers were made out of 1,764 applications received by the School of Medical Education, resulting in a 2.2% offer rate. Other disciplines with low offer rates included Nursery and Midwifery, Physiotherapy, and Clinical Dentistry, with 14%, 16%, and 17%, respectively.
